Specializing in research communications
I am a journalist turned science writer who specializes in research communications. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, I work with a range of international and Danish research and research-supporting institutions. My role is to communicate scientific findings and make visible the extensive behind-the-scenes work in support of research.
Well above 90 % of my work is in English. Since my English writing is continuously scrutinized by editors who are native English speakers, I can state with confidence that my English is not compromised by Danish semantics.
Science writing is an iterative process
From early age, I felt writing to be my natural calling. Soon after graduating from the Danish School of Media and Journalism I found myself writing increasingly about science. Engaging with people who are working to push the boundaries of our understanding is just fascinating.
Over the years, I have interviewed several thousand scientists and other professionals from both academia and industry working within physics, engineering, chemistry, computing, life sciences, biotech, space, environment, energy etc.
Obviously, covering such a wide range of scientific disciplines is only possible thanks to iterative processes where experts provide feedback, mitigating any misunderstandings or inaccuracies. Being able to establish a space of trust and mutual respect with the expert is probably my most important skill.
